Ai Jiu (艾灸), is known as Moxibustion in English, is an ancient therapy in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) using moxa made from dried Chinese mugwort leaves. It is the most ancient therapy in TCM. What is Moxibustion?
Moxibustion is a TCM technique that involves the burning of mugwort (artemisia vulgaris), a small and spongy herb, to facilitate healing. The herb is burnt and placed (either directly or indirectly) on the body to generate heat at specific acupoints, so as to allow the medicinal properties to penetrate into the body to warm the meridians.
